José-Luis Orozco to present all-ages concert

Photo of Jose-Luis Orozco with childrenJosé-Luis Orozco, children’s author and recording artist, will perform his exuberant bilingual Latino and world music on Tuesday, April 22 from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. at Shelton High School Auditorium, 3737 N Shelton Springs Rd., Shelton, WA 98584. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

The all-ages performance, sponsored by the Friends of the William G. Reed Library (Shelton Timberland Library) and the Shelton School District, is free and open to the public.

Drawing upon the rich heritage of the Spanish-speaking world, Orozco has sought to expose a wider audience to Spanish language children’s traditions. His simple, participatory songs have been taught by two generations of teachers and his recordings are classics in the bilingual genre. Orozco has performed before millions of children, and his books and 13 music CDs are used by tens of thousands of teachers all over America. His presentations are a musical journey through Latin American history, language and culture.

Born in Mexico City, but raised in over 34 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, Orozco received a master’s degree in multicultural education. He dedicates himself to what he loves most – singing for children. Orozco is the father of four and grandfather of two children. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
