Salkum and Winlock Timberland libraries to add open hours
New schedules begin February 1
In response to public requests, the Salkum Timberland Library will be open four additional hours per week and the Winlock Timberland Library will be open two additional hours. The libraries have reorganized employee schedules so there will be no extra cost for staffing the new hours.
Effective Friday, February 1:
The Salkum library will be open 1 to 5 on Mondays, an entirely new open day for this library.
The Winlock library will open at 10 a.m. on Fridays (instead of noon).
"Our public is thrilled!" said Salkum Timberland Library Manager, Cherie Rusk. As the only Timberland library in Lewis County open on Mondays except for the Centralia and Packwood branches, the Salkum library can expect to be busy with people working on projects, picking up holds and checking out books, music and movies.
Winlock area patrons have been asking for more open library hours. In addition, Jamie Allwine, Manager at Winlock Timberland Library, and her staff knew that people often came by on Friday mornings before the library was open. Now the library’s hours will be more consistent—either 10 to 5 or noon to 8, Tuesday through Saturday—and easier for people to recall.
