Temporary Chehalis library building is closed

Tuesday, September 30 at 8 p.m., the temporary Chehalis Timberland Library closed. Library staff are in the process of moving into the city’s new library building.

The new Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Library at 400 N. Market Blvd. will open to the public on Saturday, October 18. During the move, book drops will remain at the temporary location at 350 N. Market Blvd.

A grand opening celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 18. That day the library will open after the ribbon cutting, around 1:30 p.m.

During the closure, people are encouraged to use the Centralia Timberland Library; 110 S Silver St., Centralia, 98531; (360) 736-0183. The Centralia library is open:

  • Monday & Tuesday, 10-9
  • Wednesday & Thursday, 10-7
  • Friday & Saturday, 10-5

At the TRL Web site, www.trlib.org, people can access their library records and the catalog of library materials and they can place holds on library items. The Web page also includes around 50 reference databases for homework, research and general information.

Information on any topic can be requested by calling reference librarians at 1-800-562-6022. On the TRL Web site, click on "Ask a Librarian" and select chat or email.

 Timberland Regional Library provides for the information, reading and lifelong learning needs of the Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston county public at 27 community public libraries and 7 library service partner locations. The library system is funded primarily by local property taxes. Anyone needing special accommodations to participate in a library’s program may contact the library one week in advance.
