D.E.A.R. – Drop Everything and Read, April 10 – 12, at Pacific County Libraries
All five Pacific County Timberland libraries are celebrating National Drop Everything and Read Day (D.E.A.R.) and the birthday of beloved children’s author, Beverly Cleary, (April 12) with family programs on April 10 through 12. Families can gather at the libraries, read with the librarians, and have some cake. The program schedule follows:
April 10 (Tuesday)

D.E.A.R. Day was developed by national educational, library and publishing organizations to encourage families to make reading together on a daily basis a prioity and to honor an internationally acclaimed children’s author.
Oregonian Beverly Cleary has written books filled with warmth and humor for girls and boys. In a career that spans over five decades, Cleary’s book characters, such as Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins, Ellen Tebbits and Ralph S. Mouse, have garnered loyal readers of all ages. The author receives thousands of letters from children every year. It takes pages to list her awards. The Library of Congress awarded her "Living Legend" status in 2000.
