Remembering your stories: Library workshops show you how to share them
Learn how to tell your life stories. Storyteller Rebecca Hom will guide elders through three workshops that show how to create stories from memories of their lives. The workshops will be held on Tuesdays, September 18 and 25 and October 2, from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. at the North Mason Timberland Library, located at 23081 NE State Route 3 in Belfair.
Ms. Hom will teach and demonstrate journaling techniques and other successful storytellers’ methods for recalling memories and creating oral stories from those memories.
"We will explore why tell our stories, how to go about telling those stories, and how they fit into the larger history of our times," said Hom. "The focus will be on the spoken rather than the written word, on strong images rather than proper grammar. We will lift the words off the page into our retellings."
The workshops are free of charge. Attendance is limited. Please call the library at (360) 275-3232 for more information and to register.
