Cookbook author and educator discusses health benefits of seafood

Evie Hansen, award-winning author and seafood guru will discuss the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids found in seafood. She will also describe her new cookbook, "Seafood Omega-3s for Healthy Living." The free lecture will be presented from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 16 at the Montesano Timberland Library as part of the monthly brown bag series, "Lunch for Your Brains." Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

In 1977 Hansen founded National Seafood Educators in Richmond Beach, Washington. She organized the first heart-healthy campaign with the American Heart Association and introduced the importance of eating seafood at least twice a week. Hansen has written several low-fat, heart-healthy seafood cookbooks.

The presentation is sponsored by the Friends of the W.H. Abel Memorial Library (Montesano Timberland Library). Those interested in the activities of the Friends group are invited to join them before the program for a 10:30 a.m. meeting.
