Everybody Reads! goes to the Library
Celebrate "Everybody Reads!" and Dr. Seuss’s birthday with the Cat in the Hat

Cat in the Cat - Dr. Seuss Birthday The Aberdeen Timberland Library is hosting the second big event of the community-wide program, Everybody Reads. The whole family is invited to a party Saturday, March 3 from noon to 3 p.m. to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with the Cat in the Hat.

A free book will be given away to each child through grade three. "There will be games, prize drawings, a theater presentation, crafts, stories, Dr. Seuss bookmarks and cake—the biggest birthday cake that Susie’s Cakes has ever baked!" said Bob Stalder, Aberdeen Youth Services Librarian. The cake will serve 300 people. The Cat in the Hat, who is celebrating his fiftieth birthday this year, will cut the cake and visit with children.

The celebration is part of the Everybody Reads program that kicked off in January at the South Shore Mall. The program was developed to help children discover the joys of reading and to ensure that every child has a book of his or her own.

This event is sponsored by the Everybody Reads Partnership: the Aberdeen Timberland Library, Aberdeen School District, Twin Harbors Reading Foundation and the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library. For more information, please contact the library at (360) 533-2360.
