UFO investigator to speak at Aberdeen library
James Clarkson, retired Aberdeen law enforcement officer and a State Section Director for the Mutual UFO Network, will present a history and evaluation of significant cases of unidentified flying objects at a free lecture for teens and adults. The program will be held Thursday, June 28 at 7 p.m. at the Aberdeen Timberland Library.
Clarkson focuses on providing a basic understanding of the complexity and diversity of the subject while keeping a logical perspective. He highlights UFO cases from the Northwest such as the Elk River (Westport) crash retrieval case, the "Black Triangle" cases from Mt. Rainier and Shelton and other enigmas.
Clarkson will also discuss one of his main areas of investigation, the experiences of former Ocean Shores resident, June Crain (Kaba). Between 1942 and 1952, Crain worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio where scientists and engineers often discussed UFOs as realities. Her story was included in the documentary "Hangar 18 " that aired recently on the History Channel. Clarkson will play a short section of the DVD.
Clarkson uses the investigative methods of his nearly 25 years in law enforcement to explore reported UFO sightings for the Mutual UFO Network (Web site: www.mufon.com). Founded in 1969, MUFON is an international organization of volunteers who research UFOs. Clarkson explains how reports of encounters are investigated and classified and encourages audiences to do their own research. To help people get started, he provides a brochure with Web addresses, search terms, a UFO classification system and a summary of evidence.
