Author and journalist Jeff Burlingame talks about his book on Kurt Cobain

Jeff Burlingame will talk about his book, Kurt Cobain: "Oh Well, Whatever, Nevermind" and answer questions about writing the book as well as the subject of the biography. The program will take place in the Rosalie Spellman meeting room at the Aberdeen Timberland Library at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 18. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Burlingame grew up in Aberdeen and knew Kurt Cobain. To write the biography, Burlingame drew on personal knowledge, interviews with Cobain’s family, friends and others, and a variety of other sources. The book is illustrated with color photographs and some artworks by Cobain. It also includes a discography and lists of sources that people can read, view and listen to for additional information.

In 2004, Burlingame co-founded the non-profit group, the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee. One outcome is the sign at the entrance to Aberdeen reading "Come As You Are." The committee continues to work on other goals.

Burlingame was arts and entertainment editor for the Daily World for many years and has won numerous journalism awards. He is now is writing his second book.

The author’s talk is sponsored by the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library. For more information, people can contact the library at (360) 533-2360.
