Walk down the streets of Shakespeare to the court of Elizabeth with Tames Alan

Tames Alan performs her living history presentation, From the Streets of Shakespeare to the Court of Elizabeth, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 4 at the Tumwater Timberland Library. Alan (pictured left) begins in the character and the historically accurate costume of a lower-middle class Elizabethan. Then, onstage, Alan changes into an authentic 62-piece Elizabethan court costume with full makeup. All the while, she explains the significance of each piece of clothing, the fabrics and dyes of the period, and the life, customs and values of the nobility and working classes of Elizabethan society. Afterwards, she answers questions from the audience.
This is a fun cultural event for adults and children age 10 and up as well as lovers of history and costume. It is free of charge, sponsored by the Friends of Tumwater Timberland Library.
Alan studied theater and history at Willamette University in Oregon. She also studied theater at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the Dell Arte School in California. She worked with the California Renaissance Faire as an instructor in Elizabethan dialect, costume and culture.
