This summer. For Teens Only. At Their Place: The Library
The place to be for teens this summer is—their place—The Library.
The Timberland Regional Library summer 2006 program theme for teens is "Creature Feature," focusing on pets, working animals and wild creatures, from wolves to werewolves. Teens can pick up a start-up packet and book bag at any Timberland library. Thurston County libraries will have plenty of books, magazines and audiobooks for teens to take back to their dens and talk about with friends.
Teens can also sign up on the Timberland Web site, www.trlib.org under "Creature Feature." The site includes lists of great books to read, links to Web sites about animals in the wild, animals in regional parks and zoos, and local events. Teens can share their favorite reads with the rest of the pack by writing and posting book reviews online. Middle school teens can also link to a statewide summer reading blog.
When teens turn in their prize claim ticket at their library in July or August, they will receive a set of coupons for free pizza and admissions to regional attractions. The ticket is part of a form where teens can keep track of what they’ve read. Many library branches also award other prizes throughout the summer.
For more information, including the summer program for preschoolers and school children, "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales," stop by any Timberland library or check out the Web site, www.trlib.org.
Free events and activities for middle and high school teens at Thurston County libraries.
