Kiosk provides Timberland Library services
at South Puget Sound Community College’s Hawks Prairie Center
Many Timberland Regional Library (TRL) services are now available at the Hawks Prairie Center of South Puget Sound Community College with the installation Tuesday of a kiosk equipped with two TRL computer stations. The Hawks Prairie Kiosk is a partnership project of Timberland Regional Library and the College.
"The kiosk will provide Timberland Library services to both the Center’s students and Hawks Prairie area residents," said TRL Director, Jodi Reng. "Developed and designed by TRL’s Computer Services staff, the kiosk is the first stand-alone library services station to combine a library catalog and information computer with a self-checkout station. It’s efficient and economical," said Reng. The cost for the two-station kiosk was a little under $5,000.
"South Puget Sound Community College has always prized its role as a community resource. This new partnership with Timberland Regional Library allows us to offer another resource to both our students and the Hawks Prairie community," said College President Kenneth J. Minnaert. "These services also allow the college to enhance its activities in the area as we move toward establishing a future campus here."
The South Puget Sound Community College Hawks Prairie Center is located at 1401 Marvin Rd. NE, Suite 201 in Lacey. People can use the Center’s main entrance (on the west side of the Hawks Prairie Village Mall) or enter on the mall side (by the Starbucks store). TRL card applications are available at the Center. Library cards are free.
"Hawks Prairie is one of the fastest-growing areas in the county. We’re excited to be able to extend library services to area residents, students and businesses," said Ms Reng.
