Beachcomber to talk at Elma library on northwest coastal treasures

Photo of Alan RammerBeach glass and seaweed, starfish and driftwood are just some of the treasures discovered by Pacific Northwest beachcombers. Alan Rammer, a beach collectibles expert, will present a talk, "Beachcombing Bonanza," at the Elma Timberland Library on Monday April 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. The program is for all ages and is free of charge.

Rammer will share some of his finds in a slideshow, discuss the coastal environment, and explain the dos and don’ts of combing the sands of the Washington coast. People will be welcome to bring their own unusual beach finds to have them identified.

Rammer is a Marine Community Outreach and Environmental Education Specialist with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. He has co-authored, with Stuart Farnsworth, "Glass Fishing Floats of the World: The Collector Price Guide & Identification Handbook." Some copies will be available at the presentation.

The Elma library is located at 118 N First Street, Elma. For more information, people can contact the library at (360) 482-3737.
