Presenter highlights Native Peoples’ roles in Lewis & Clark Expedition
Through story and song, Allan Hirsch highlights the roles Native Peoples in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The Yelm Timberland Library will host his presentation, “More than the Ocean,” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 19.
The audience will learn the important roles that Native Peoples played in the achievements of the Corps of Discovery. They’ll also hear tales about the plants and animals found along the way. “Greatest care has been given to the authenticity and relevance of the material presented,” Hirsch stated in his synopsis of the presentation. An avid collector of old folk tales and folk songs, Mr. Hirsch has loved sharing music and stories since he was a child.
This Humanities Washington Inquiring Mind program is designed for an elementary school through adult audience. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Yelm Library and is free of charge. For more information, please contact the Yelm Timberland Library at (360) 458-3374.
