Library’s Adult Winter Reading Club takes readers away

fireplaceForget the frost, the drizzle, the dark. The Timberland Regional Library’s ninth annual Adult Winter Reading Club has you covered. Not only does the program provide a warm indoor activity from January 3 through March 31, it also offers chances to win a mini-vacation or other prizes.

To join in, pick up a brochure titled "Winter Reading Takes You Away!" at any of the 27 Timberland libraries in Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific and Thurston counties. The brochure includes a contest entry form, a list of prizes, and other information.

Basically, participants read or listen to five (or more) books during the contest period, complete an entry form for each five, and turn forms in at a Timberland library by March 31. Participants must be 18 or older and have a current library card. Local Timberland libraries have all the details as well as reading advice and more than enough books for reading the winter away.

Districtwide Grand Prizes

A one-night stay and full, homemade breakfast for two at the Tokeland Hotel in Tokeland

One night and a gourmet breakfast for two at the Shelburne Inn in Seaview

Two nights for two at the Charles Nelson Guest House in Ocean Park

One night and breakfast in bed for two in the Governor Suite of the Phoenix Inn in Olympia

One night for two at the Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips

One night for two at the Lake Quinault Lodge on Lake Quinault in the Olympic Peninsula

One of ten Adult Winter Reading Baskets, each containing a book, an audio book, travel mug, tea, coffee and hot chocolate

Grand prizes will be drawn on April 12, 2006. Many libraries will have local drawings for additional prizes. Businesses and local Friends of the Library groups have donated all prizes.
