Westport Library Friends announce fundraiser for new library
Order a commemorative brick and make a lasting contribution to Westport’s new library project.
The Friends of the Westport Timberland Library have developed a way for individuals to celebrate the important people and events in their lives and to contribute to building the new Westport Timberland Library as well.
Commemorative bricks, to be installed as a visibly prominent part of the community’s new library, may be ordered now. Forms are available at the library. Each brick will be laser engraved with the purchaser’s words for a donation of $35. The new building is expected to be completed by the end of 2005, providing the community three times the space of the existing library, more computers, better access, a meeting room, and comfortable spaces for reading and programs.
For each four-by-eight inch brick, contributors will have 3 lines with 20 characters/spaces each for their messages. (Messages are subject to review. If rejected, the money will be refunded.) Staff and Friends of the Westport Timberland Library have come up with a list of possible subjects:

The library’s Friends group plans to raise $50,000 dollars with the bricks and other fundraisers toward a goal of $350,000. Questions about the bricks may be directed to Ann Brown, chair of the brick sale project, at 268-9731; or to the Westport Timberland Library, 268-0521.
