Library Installs Drive-Up Book Drop
People can now return their library materials at the Tumwater Timberland Library without getting out of their cars. To increase convenience for library patrons, Timberland Regional Library has installed a large drive-up book drop at the Library. The drive-up book drop is sited at the first driveway into the Tumwater Timberland Library located at the corner of Israel Road and New Market Street. In addition to books and magazines, people can return library CDs, cassettes and DVDs at the drive-up drop box. The box is available 24 hours every day.
Jodi Reng, Director of Timberland Regional Library says, "We heard from many library patrons that if we had a drive-up drop box, it would save them time. For busy parents, it also saves the effort of having to take their kids out of the car to return library materials. The convenience of drive–up is one way that the library can help with people’s increasingly hectic lives. We plan to install these book drops at as many of our 27 libraries as have space for a book drop that can be accessed from the driver’s side of a car. We hope to install 13 by the end of 2005."
Timberland Regional Library serves the information, reading and lifelong learning needs of the Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston county public at 27 community libraries and 4 school-based cooperative library centers. The library system is funded by local property taxes. For information on any subject, the public can telephone Timberland’s Central Reference Service librarians at 704-INFO (704-4636) in the Olympia area or 1-800-562-6022, toll-free, from all other areas. Or they can "Ask a Librarian" online at
