“Tweed Meyer: Along Quinault’s South Shore Road”
The
Amanda Park Timberland Library will exhibit paintings in oil, pastel and mixed
media by Tweed Meyer throughout February. Meyer’s paintings capture the color,
light, and movement in nature along the South Shore Road of the Quinault Rain
Forest. A map that shows the location where each painting was created will be
provided so visitors can drive along the South Shore Road and view the spots
depicted. Meyer’s website at
http://www.tweedmeyer.com presents a preview of her paintings.
On Saturday, February 12 from 1 to 3 p.m., Meyer will be at the Amanda Park library to talk with visitors about the paintings and the stories they tell. Refreshments will be served. Programs and events of Timberland libraries are always free and open to the public.
Meyer is a regional painter and Northwest native, a graduate of the Northwest College of Art in Poulsbo, Washington. Following in the path of the Impressionists, Meyer is a plein air painter—one who paints outdoors so the fleeting effects of light can be observed and recorded. Meyer’s outdoor paintings catch the play of light on water and the solitude of the rain forest among ancient trees. “It’s the understanding of what is local and unique that is important for me: to preserve, and learn from, and celebrate our colors, our lives, our world. In my painting, I weave the colors from my natural environment, finding the world in local experiences,” said Meyer.
