Slide lecture illumines legacy of Abraham for three world religions

The patriarch Abraham is one of the most widely revered figures in history. In a slide-illustrated free public lecture, Professor Don Holsinger will discuss how Abraham's heritage has been formed and reformed through the ages by Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25 at the Montesano Timberland Library. The library is located at 125 Main Street S, Montesano; telephone number, (360) 249-4211. The lecture is sponsored by the Friends of the W. H. Abel Memorial Library.

Showing slides from Hebron, the traditional burial site of Abraham, Holsinger will take the audience to one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Divisions within the city are both a reflection of Abraham's contested legacy and a microcosm of the current Middle East conflict.
