Aberdeen Timberland Library seeking sculptor for outdoor art project

The Aberdeen Timberland Library is making a Call for Sculptors for a sculpture project to be located on Wishkah Street in Aberdeen at a corner of the soon-to-be-constructed library parking area. The sculpture project has a budget of $45,000.

Artists are invited to submit 10-20 slides of their previous work, a cover letter expressing their general intent for this particular project, their resume and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Sculpture Review Committee, Aberdeen Timberland Library, 121 East Market Street, Aberdeen 98520, postmarked no later than July 31, 2004.

Application materials should show the artist’s ability to creatively develop exciting imagery or forms related to the concept of a public library and/or regional heritage using permanent materials appropriate to an unsecured, outdoor environment.

Three to five artists will be selected from the initial applications and offered a modest honorarium to produce a model or drawings of their site-specific proposals from which the final selection will be made.

The sculpture is being funded by the Grays Harbor Community Foundation Kathryn N. Sherk Fund as part of the Aberdeen Timberland Library Site Enhancement Project. For additional information about the site and the project, contact Christine Peck, Community Librarian: cpeck@trlib.org or 360-533-2360.
