Rochester Cooperative Library Center Closes,
Public library services still available at Timberland Libraries
The Rochester Cooperative Library Center at the community’s new Rochester Middle School has closed. Complete public library services are available to Rochester area residents at Timberland libraries. The nearest libraries are in Oakville, Centralia, and Tenino.
People may also access a variety of library services and information resources at the Timberland Regional Library website at www.trlib.org and by calling the library system’s Central Reference Services at 704-INFO (4636). All Timberland library services are free of charge to residents of Thurston, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Pacific and Mason counties. The library system is funded primarily by property taxes.
Since April 2001, public library services had been provided at the Rochester Middle School as part of a federal 21st Century Community Learning Center grant awarded to Educational Service District 113, which worked in partnership with the Rochester School District and the Timberland Regional Library District. The closure results from difficulties the school district has had in retaining adequate staff for public hours.

Centralia Timberland Library, 110 S Silver Street, (360) 736-0183. Hours: M & Tu, 10-9; W & Th, 10-7; F & Sa, 10-5; Su, 1-5 (October through May).
Tenino Timberland Library; 172 Central Avenue W, (360) 264-2369. Hours: Tu, 11-5; W & Th, 11-8; F, 1-5; Sa, 11-3.
Timberland Regional Library serves Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties at 27 community libraries and through 5 school-based cooperative library centers that offer open hours to the general public.
