Meet Dianne Kozdrey Bunnell, author of The Protest, at Yelm & Olympia Libraries

Photo of Dianne Kozdrey BunnellDianne Kozdrey Bunnell will discuss her recently published novel, The Protest, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 at the Yelm Timberland Library, 210 Prairie Park Street and at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 7 at the Olympia Timberland Library, 313 8th Avenue. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the programs. The program is for adults and teens.

A cautionary but heartening fictional work inspired by the real-life religious hijacking of her two young daughters, The Protest sheds light on the abuse of power and authority. Nonfiction books and articles about cults, indoctrination, and religious scandal are widely available, but "…to my knowledge, no one has written a recent work of fiction inspired by brainwashing within the framework of main-stream fundamentalism," states Bunnell. The novel also reinforces the power of choice and love to rebuild family and other personal relationships.

Bunnell will read selections from her book. A vivacious presenter, she will include entertaining elements of singing, mimicry and humor in the program. Bunnell has taught English at Yelm High School for ten years. She earned her BA in English from Whitworth College and her teaching credential at St. Martin’s College.

For more information, call the Yelm library, 458-3374 or the Olympia library, 352-0595.
