LACEY TIMBERLAND LIBRARY HOSTS "MIDWINTER BLUES & JAZZ FEST"

Seattle musicians will perform at the Lacey Timberland Library’s Midwinter Blues & Jazz Fest at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 22. Besides enjoying the music of Charles Lambert on keyboards, Sura Charlier on saxophone, and vocalist Judy Young, the audience will learn about jazz, its history, and the artists, such as Benny Goodman, who performed it. After the program, people can stay for light refreshments and visit with the musicians.

The program is free to the public, sponsored by the Friends of the Lacey Timberland Library. The library is located at 500 College Street SE, Lacey. For more information, people may call 360-491-3860.

The musicians

Lambert, the band’s leader, studied music, composing and arranging at Cornish College of the Arts and performs throughout western Washington and Canada. Prize-winning composer Charlier writes in neo-classical, neo-jazz, and world music idioms. She performs on saxophone, clarinet and flute and has directed several choir groups. Young performs in television and radio commercials and in theaters and clubs throughout the United States.
