20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Author:

Jules Verne

Review:

This book is a very interesting read! The topic usually wouldn't have interested me, but the way this book is written can grab anyone. A peculiar adventure under the sea with a professor of science, and an outcast who has made the underwater world his safe haven. I recommend this book to anyone with a long attention span :)and a love for the unknown.

Title:

Abarat

Author:

Clive Barker

Review:

Candy is a typical girl, living with a drunk father, pushover mother, and brother(s)(I cant remember if there is more than one)in Minnesota. All goes wrong and the adventure starts when Candy begins to draw lines in her text book. She can't figure out what they are, but she fills up pages and pages with them. Then, they start to move. She gets sent to the principal's office for defacing school property (of course, no one saw the waves), but doesn't ACTUALLY go. Instead, she runs out of the school and down streets, until she finds herself at the edge of town, where there is a field. She begins to walk around in the field, where she discovers seashells. IN MINNESOTA!! Before long, she has met an eight-headed creature. Every one of his heads is a brother and they are all named John. They are running from a hit man named Mendelson Shape, a tall, lanky creature, whose weapons are attached to his back. Soon enough, she is swept off into the world of Abarat (on an ocean in the middle of the field), which consists of 25 islands, one for every hour of the day (yes, there are twenty-five hours). (Have you read Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld? DO!! Its creepy!!) It is really REALLY good! The sequel, Days of Magic Nights of War is equally good and is a MUST read!!

He starts to read the book and he finds out it is on the future Ted Bundy. So he starts out and tries to find him before he can get to his future murder victims. Can he stop him in time?

Author:

Review:

This book was amazing, action-packed, and funny. It is so good! It’s one of those books u hav to not schedule anything for the day when u read it, cus u cant put it down! It’s about a girl who disguises herself as a spy to become a knight. She has to get over a lot of things, like starting her period and stuff, and keeping it a secret. It’s really good. It’s part of a series of four books, the “Song of the Lioness” quartet.

Alice in-between

Author:

Phyllis Reyolds Naylor

Review:

Alice in-between is a book about a girl named Alice who is stuck between being a girl and becoming a woman. She has two friends whom she envies, one named Pamela and the other, Elizabeth. Her mom died when she was young so the only girls she has to talk to are her friends. She tries to talk to her dad's girlfriend but it is kind of weird for her because she is her teacher. Alice goes through many trials and obstacles in this book to get to womanhood. The only question is, when will she get there? This is a good book for middle school girls and up. Girls can relate to this because they go through the same things. I would not recommend this for boys because it talks about becoming a woman, not a man. All in all it is a pretty good book, I just found it a little bit strange since I'm a boy.

All of her books

Author:

Tamora Pierce

Review:

I loved all of her books (ya, I've read all of 'em that have come out so far... I'm hooked on her writing). I really loved the Lioness Rampant Quartet, it's a great read for any girl... There is a little romance but it's not very descriptive and something I'd let an 8 year old read (maybe younger even). These books are all so well written and thrilling... I've read some of her books multiple times and I would read them again and again and again if I didn't have a million other thrilling books to read that I haven't yet (I'm a wee bit of a book worm as you may have guessed). I recommend the Lioness Rampant, (can't remember the name of the quartet with Diane), and the Protector of the Small to all girls who need a good thrilling adventure with a twing of romance. And the Circle of Magic and The Circle Opens to anyone who needs a good book to read.

Alpha Dog

Author:

Review:

I like Alpha Dog a LOT! It was about a girl who is RULED by her mother. She goes to a summer college and she also gets a dog. Her mom would have been really mad if the girl (whose name is Katie) told her. But Katie and her roommate Christine dont tell her mom. Until Katies dog gets hit by a car and Katie needs money for the vet bill. She knows that she will have to tell her mom sometime. She keeps on putting it off, so when she actually tells her mom her mom gets FURIOUS!!! And tells her she cant have a dog. Katie tells her mom to leave her alone. Its a really good story~I have read it over and over again, I love it so much.

The Angel Factory

Author:

Terence Blacker

Review:

This book was amazing, action-packed, and weird. "The Angel Factory" is about 12-year-old Thomas Wisdom, who discovers that he has been adopted and chosen to play a special part in an otherwordly effort to save mankind. He is introduced to the project after being set up by his best friend, his parents, and his parents' "boss." They are all angels. They were sent to Earth by the "Presence" to try to help mankind. Unfortunately, they are willing to stop at nothing to keep the project a secret. Thomas is the first step in the second phase of the project, and the fate of the world rests on his decision to either join or work against the angels. It was a rivering, edge-of-your-seat thriller.

The Angel Factory

Author:

Terence Blacker

Review:

The Angel Factory is a sci-fi novel about a boy named Thomas Wisdom who discovers some strange things about his so-called “perfect” family and is forced to make a choice that could effect the entire future of mankind! Quite frankly, I thought that the book lacked meaning. It was just too friendly and unreal to have any impact on me. I read a summary of the book that claimed it was a powerful novel of good and evil but I found it to be a book about choice, which I would have enjoyed, except that the choice Thomas was faced with turned out to be, for the most part, inconsequential to the main character. If you want a book without much meaning and a sappy, happily-ever-after ending, read The Angel Factory. Otherwise, don’t bother!

Review:

This book was action-packed and weird. It's about a boy named Thomas who finds out he is adopted and his whole family hasn't told him a thing about it. He didn't even think about being adopted because his family was so perfect that they all looked alike too. It turns out that his whole family are aliens of some sort and Thomas has to make a decision that will affect the whole world. I thought that this book was kind of intense but also pointless because the ending is happy. I thought that at least someone is supposed to die in this book because it is so weird or something. Anyways, I'm glad I read it so I can warn others about how lame it is.

This book is AMAZINGLY funny. You cannot read this book in public, because people stare as you laugh till your sides split. This book is basically a girl's diary. Everything is a bit different because she's English, but instead of her telling you about her day, she relives it for you. Her family is very funny, especially her little sister Libby. This is a four-book series, but they are SO good I bought all four. They rock!

This book was amazing, action-packed, scary, and sad. It is in the “Left Behind” series, and leaves you hanging on the last page. The next book in the series doesn’t come out until Spring 2004, so you will have time to read this book before then. There were some really funny parts, some really sad parts, some really, really cool parts. The whole book is really good, it is hard to believe what is going on. Some of it you want to be a different way, and other parts you think that is exactly what you wanted to happen. There are definitely some surprises, so look out!
