Internet Access and PCs Available in Timberland Libraries

Internet Access at the Library
Timberland libraries have from 2 to 26 PCs (depending on the size of the library) for patron access to the Internet. Most PCs can be scheduled for 30 or 60 minute sessions. Some PCs are for "walk-up", unscheduled use for 15 or 30 minutes. If you have a TRL library card, you can schedule a session in advance by using the online TRL Computer Signup System.  If you do not have a TRL card, you can fill out an online library card application or call your local library to schedule a PC. 
 
Word Processing, Spreadsheet Software, etc. at the Library
Library Internet PCs also have Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) available for public use. TimberKid's PCs - Games and Educational CD-ROMs
Timberland libraries have from 1 to 4 PCs with 18 games and educational CD-ROMs for children.

Gateway PCs with Windows 2000 operating system; HP networked laser printers.
Software
  • Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Internet Explorer 6 browser
Network
Each branch of the Timberland Regional Library has a local area network that connects all public and staff PCs to the Timberland wide area network (WAN) and the Internet.  All WAN circuits are point-to-point T1 or 10mb ethernet. TRL has a 100mb connection to the Internet through the Washington State K-20 Network.
