Philanthropy Northwest
Philanthropy Northwest is the former Pacific Northwest Grantmakers Forum. They are a professional association of people involved in making grants and they host conferences, meetings and workshops.

Washington Secretary of State Charities and Charitable Trusts
This site provides information about charities, charitable trusts and the Charitable Solicitations Program in Washington State. It also includes a report on commercial fundraisers and the percentage of money they collect that goes to the charity.

Washington State Attorney General-Consumer Protection Division
Complaints about charities are turned over to this office and their site includes a pamphlet called, “Charities – Check Before Giving.”

American Association of Fund-Raising Counsel
Includes information on how to choose a fund-raising consultant.

Annual Fund Inc. Resource Pages
Philanthropy resources from the Annual Fund Inc. including: philanthropy quotes, employment listings, sample forms, etc.

Association of Fundraising Professionals
This professional association Web site is mostly for members but has a good list of links to other fundraising-type sites. Individual chapters of the Society also have Web sites.

Foundation Center
One of the premier sites for funding research and grant information. Provides links to private foundations, corporate grant makers, grant making public charities and community foundations. Has a foundation finder that includes IRS form 990-PFs. Includes statistics and highlights from the Center’s research on foundation giving.

Grants & Related Resources
Michigan State University's Grants and Related Resources website contains a number of links to grants for individuals as well as for nonprofits. The grants for individuals list is organized by education level, population group and subject. The grants for nonprofits list is organized by subject.

GrantSelect
Provides name and contact information for grants offered by federal, state and local governments, commercial organizations, associations, and private foundations. (Available outside the library with a Timberland Regional Library card.)

Grantsmart
A database about private foundations that can be searched several ways. Contains images of most recently filed IRS form 990-PFs. Useful for seeking grants.

GuideStar
A comprehensive source of information about American nonprofit organizations that provides a searchable database with financial information. Obtains information from IRS forms 990 and 990-EZ and the IRS Business Master File of 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

Charity Navigator
Provides information on the financial health of over 2,700 charities in order to promote intelligent giving.

Give.org - BBB Wise Giving Alliance
Promotes informed giving by providing information about charitable organizations that solicit funds nationally from the general public.

Internal Revenue Service - Tax Exempt Organizations
Information regarding requirements for tax-exempt organizations, how to apply for tax-exempt status and annual filing requirements are included on this site.

National Center for Charitable Statistics
The Center gathers statistics nationally concerning nonprofit organizations. Some state data is available.

This website contains sample documents and files (many of which were generated by educational institutions) related primarily to annual giving programs.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
The General Services Administration provides information on a wide variety of financial and non-financial assistance programs, projects, services and activities. It is also available in print form.

Firstgov.gov for Nonprofits
This is sometimes considered "the starting point for nearly one-stop federal grant shopping."

Volunteers and Volunteering

This site was designed to connect community members seeking to serve on boards with the nonprofit organizations that need them. This site is used by thousands of nonprofits and contains over 10,000 board candidates in 47 states.

Idealist.org
This extensive website run by Action Without Borders contains a searchable database including over 43,000 nonprofits in 165 countries, thousands of volunteer opportunities, as well as hundreds of job and internship listings.

The Volunteer Center of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties

Volunter Match
Volunteer Match is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals find volunteer opportunities. Users can search for volunteer opportunities by zipcode, and organizations can post volunteer opportunities.
