TRL Magazine & Newspaper Collections

  • Timberland owns a wide range of print and microfilm magazines and newspapers and provides access to online magazine and newspaper databases via the Internet.
     
  • The online Magazines & Newspapers Catalog contains all titles available in Timberland libraries including print, microfilm and electronic formats; library location codes for print and microfilm; links to online magazines and newspapers; and holdings information (e.g., time period covered by subscriptions).
     
  • The online Magazines & Newspapers Catalog is available at every TRL library on public PCs.  It is also available outside the libraries via the Internet with a valid TRL library card.

Electronic Magazines and Newspapers

Timberland licenses access to online databases of magazines and newspapers for the benefit of library patrons.  The online Magazines & Newspapers Catalog provides access by title and subject area to the databases.  The databases contain the full text of magazine and newspaper articles, as well as indexes, article citations, and abstracts.

Print and Microfilm Magazines

All Timberland Libraries have print magazines and newspapers and many have microfilm holdings.  See a complete list of the library locations and holdings codes found in the Magazines & Newspapers Catalog.

Print and Microfilm Newspapers

Timberland libraries have print and microfilm national and international newspapers as well as local newspapers from Washington and Oregon.  They are included in the Magazines & Newspapers Catalog.  See a separate list of print and microfilm newspapers.

Print and Microfilm Genealogy Magazines

Timberland has an extensive collection of print genealogy magazines which are available to the public at the Montesano (MO) and Olympia (OL) libraries. These materials are identified in the Magazines & Newspapers Catalog by "MO Genealogy Print" and "OL Genealogy Print".  See a list of the genealogy magazines organized by regions.

How to Request a Print Issue of a Magazine or Newspaper

See Library Locations & Holdings Codes for more information. 

You can place holds on most print magazines and check them out of the library.   Newspapers, microfilm, genealogy magazines, and some older magazines cannot be checked out of the library.   Contact your local library or Ask A Librarian for help in obtaining a copy of an article from these items.
