A public grand opening celebration of the renovated Ilwaco Community
Building, home of Pacific Aging Council Endeavors (PACE) and the
Ilwaco Timberland Library,
was held on Saturday, May 2 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The afternoon’s program began in
front of the building with music and a ceremony including remarks by city,
state, library, PACE and other officials followed by a ribbon cutting.
Afterwards tours of the facility and refreshments will be offered, and a
juggler-comedian and a face-painter will entertain.
The Ilwaco Timberland Library reopened in its renovated, expanded space on Monday, April 6, 2009. The demolition and construction projects started in March 2008. The renovated library
has
about 1,200 additional square feet for books and other library materials,
computers and comfortable reading areas. The Community Building also has a
new community meeting room.

demolition projects.
