Early Learning Begins at Birth! - Get Ready to Read!

Get Ready to Read Reading Tip of the Week

Reading Tips in Many Languages

Parents, YOU are your child's first and best teacher!  Research shows that children are born learning.  Help your baby, toddler and preschooler get READY TO READ?Photo of Girl Reading

  • Share books with your child every day.

  • Visit your Timberland Library for Story Time.  Check out nursery rhymes and books in rhyme to read aloud together.

  • Sing with your child.  The sound of your voice makes your child feel safe and loved.

  • Hearing new words and sounds from you builds your child's vocabulary.  It also makes your child smile and laugh.  Trade places with your preschooler.

  • Ask your child to share the story with you by "reading" the pictures.  Giggle often together.

  • Talk about the books you read together.  Stories stimulate your child's IMAGINATION.

Apply for a Timberland Regional Library card.
Read together every day!
