Great Service Stories from Library Staff

One of our regular patrons is the primary caretaker of his wife, who suffers from chronic pain. The doctor that they have used for years is closing his practice and they were trying to find a new doctor who might take the case. I suggested that he check with his insurance provider to see if they had a list of approved doctors and told him that I would do some additional research when I got a chance. Later that day, Alice Goudeaux came to demonstrate some of the featured items in 4ReferenceNews. The newsletter highlights new databases and new features in some of our existing databases. When Alice showed me the Healthcare portion of Reference USA, I knew that we had to give it a try. The database produced a two-page list of Washington physicians who specialize in pain, including a number within reasonable driving distance of Winlock. We printed it off and Barb took it to our patron (who works just down the street). He was thrilled, thanked us profusely, and said that the list gave him a great place to start. Your timing, Alice, was as impeccable as usual. Thanks so much!
