A family brought in their two children, ages 8 and 10, to get their first library cards. After entering the requisite information into Symphony, I handed the kids their cards. Both of their faces lit up. The 8 year old said "I can't believe that I finally get a library card! Can I check out books right now?" When I assured them that they could, they made way for the stacks. Mom shook her head in amazement and told me that she hadn't seen them that excited about anything in a long time. "You'd think it was Christmas!"
