A Timberland patron called Central Reference from Yuma Arizona where she is living for six months. She had let her library card expire and now found herself wishing to use HERITAGE QUEST, one of our family history databases. I suggested that the Yuma area libraries might also have HERITAGE QUEST and I would look for her.
It turned out that the Yuma County Library system did have HERITAGE QUEST and a number of others she was interested in which could also be accessed remotely.
The patron then asked if there were any libraries near her address on South Frontage Road there in Yuma. A quick check of the library website showed their Foothills branch also on South Frontage Road and just
down the street from the patron!
Finally, there was the matter of a local library card. The patron became very excited when I told her a month card with Yuma is $5, $15 for six months and $25 for a year!
She said she couldn't get over how much help she got from her home library system, Timberland, comparing it to the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" where Macy's sends their customers to wherever they can find what they need".
