As the elected Chair of the Lewis County Public Health Advisory Board, I have been able to participate in training offered by the UW's Northwest Center for Public Health Practice. A recent offering featured facilitator's skills for effective meetings including outcomes-based agendas. The training was presented by Seattle-based consultant Guila Muir, who has also worked with TRL managers. Recently, Guila sought sample agendas as part of a national contest, and as a lark, I sent our group's agenda. I had forgotten about it until I was notified that we had won! I then heard from colleagues across the country, offering congratulations. It's rewarding to serve our public, and have an opportunity to add to a skill set, and to contribute to TRL's broader professional service cooperative mission in the community.
