While I was out of the building on various tasks, conference/vacation, a former patron stopped by the library. She introduced herself to the staff and asked if I was around. She was disappointed that I as not here, but asked if she could leave me a note.
When she was in her early preteen, teen years she had lived in Packwoood and attended the local elementary school. At that time the classes visited us weekly. On one of the visits she was having difficulty finding something that interested her. I worked with her to find something she might like. In the end she took Robin McKinleys "The Blue Sword". She loved it and began reading similar material.
The note she left me was short but very powerful in sentiment. She explained that the book "The Blue Sword" and her introduction to it had changed her life, and she thanked me for introducing her to the book.
