I was working on the Circulation desk when I heard a big sigh from a patron using self-checkout. I asked if she needed any help, and she smiled, said no, but gestured to the large stack of books she was checking out for her family. I said that the really great thing was that she was able to borrow them instead of paying for all of them in a book store. She replied, "Aboslutely! One year we kept track all year of the things we checked out and how much it would have cost us to purchase them, and it was over $3,000!"
