Helena, her mother and her grandmother joined the last 4 weeks of the Library in the Parks series. She did the art activity, played games, created chalk art and borrowed books! Her mother grew up participating in the Summer Reading Program and shared wonderful memories since every summer vacation was spent on Grays Harbor at her grandmother's house. She was excited that Helena is getting a chance to create great memories of the library.
This summer I had the pleasure of working with many of the youth from both the middle and high schools. At first they were timid and unsure of spending their time volunteering , and now I have seen them blossom into well behaved and responsible young adults who are excited to come into the library on a weekly basis. When I asked one of our volunteers what her favorite part of the summer was she responded, “Volunteering here at the library!”
